Born from Nat19’s actual-play campaign, this world promises new rules and more. This is enough content and options that the creators consider their variation of the 5e ruleset to be the 5.19th edition. In terms of crunch, Nat19 offers 3 classes, an incredibly night number of subclasses (90), 31 ancestries, over 100 spells, over 150 monsters and NPCs, a system for mechs, and more. Within this recovering setting, you’ll get a 500-page 5e sourcebook filled with lore, monsters, and more designed for Retia, an industrial continent on the world of Somnus Domina. WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? 800 years after the gods were killed and the world, Somnus Domina, survived an apocalypse, new heroes-turned-gods have arisen, yet the lands still haven’t recovered.MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: CA$30 for the PDF of the book and VTT assets.SYSTEM(S): Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition. They can then return to the archive, destroy the contract, and put an end to Raphael's deal.Setting Guide to Retia - A D&D 5th Edition Handbook from Nat19 Opening the safe nets the party Raphael's notes, which describe the phrase needed to dispel the Impervious Sphere. The safe is in the same room, and can be revealed by disarming the trap behind a painting on the wall, then pressing the button beneath it. Seduce Haarlep, after which he'll divulge the location of Raphael's safe, along with the code to unlock it. Proceed to the boudoir to meet the incubus Haarlep, an incubus who resembles Raphael (and whose name is an anagram of his). Otherwise, the party can pickpocket it off of him. They can talk to the Archivist, who'll give a disguised party the invitation to Raphael's boudoir with a successful Deception check. They then have to travel to the house's archive, where they see their contract floating inside an Impervious Sphere. Otherwise, this Debtor's Attire can be looted from the house's many wardrobes. If they succeed, Hope will give them disguises that allow them to avoid battle. Once inside, the party can attempt to persuade Hope, the house's original owner, to lend them her aid as they explore the house. The game doesn't show any of this playing out, but the implications are clear and disastrous. From there, he intends to conquer the rest of the Nine Hells, and then on to the rest of the Forgotten Realms. His legions are already mustering to assault Zariel's fortress, his capture of which means he'll rule Avernus. In it, Raphael addresses Tav directly, describing the intoxicating feeling of his growing power. To make matters worse, if they obtained the Orphic Hammer through their deal with Raphael, players must hand over the Crown of Karsus, and will be treated to an ominous epilogue that spells disaster for the Forgotten Realms. Just how big varies based on who eventually undergoes ceremorphosis and their relationship with the player character, but this ending is far from ideal. Either way, using the Orphic Hammer leads to a pretty big sacrifice. Karlach and Lae'zel will volunteer, or Tav can take one for the team. This can either be The Emperor, the imprisoned Orpheus, or a tadpole-infested party member. The party needs a mind flayer on their side for the game's final chapters. This ending also prevents Gale from presenting the Crown of Karsus to Mystra, meaning an unsatisfactory ending to his personal quest. However, doing so doesn't lead to the happiest ending, and doing so with Raphael's assistance makes that even worse. Freeing Orpheus in Baldur's Gate 3 is one way for Tav to be cured of their parasite, and using the Orphic Hammer is one way to do that. He gives them the Orphic Hammer, a weapon that will break Orpheus' chains.įor the record, Raphael is telling the truth here. Raphael explains that, in order to obtain a permanent cure, the party must free the githyanki prince Orpheus from his bondage on the Astral Plane. He temporarily immobilizes their tadpole parasites in order to conduct a private conversation. There, inside Sharess' Caress, they encounter Raphael once again. The party puts him on the back burner as they proceed through Act One and Act Two, traveling through the Underdark and the Shadow-Cursed Lands to the outskirts of Baldur's Gate itself. Other than that, though, there are no immediate effects to taking Raphael's deal. They do, Raphael says his farewells, and he disappears. But with the companions' groans of disgust out of the way, Raphael snaps his fingers and summons a contract for Tav to sign. It is possible to regain some of that affinity later, but romance requires work in Baldur's Gate 3, and every point counts in the end. This isn't the worst of all possible outcomes, though. Tav loses affinity with Astarion, Gale, Karlach, Lae'zel, Shadowheart, and Wyll if they take Raphael up on his offer. The most immediate effect of accepting Raphael's deal is that every member of the core party disapproves.
